Untold Things by Neetu

Untold Things
Enveloped in twilight mist
they are known only to him
and even then, they are just the outlines,
blurred between hazy sheets
of day and night
men and women
keep the closest truths buried
for truth changes with light
and years, and shifting seasons
eyes cannot be trusted—
age obscures vision
but only that of the eye
and the heart grows mellow,
forgives, breathes tenderness
into hardened arteries, blood flows
slowly where there was
frozen pain
unspoken frailties and acts
pushed into dark corners and hidden realms
he now knows to forget

Until I Can Fly by Neetu
August 26, 2026 by Neetu Malik in category Poet's Day by Neetu Malik tagged as Neetu Malik, shadows, sunset, until I can fly, waves
Until I can fly
as the sun goes down
and waves come closer
with the rising tide
I see your shadow
receding
and the sound
of your goodbye
drowns
in the shrill cry
of seagulls
making their way
like you
to places I cannot follow
until someday . . .
I can fly

Unwanted Companion by Neetu
September 26, 2025 by Neetu Malik in category Poet's Day by Neetu Malik tagged as darkness, shadows, weary
Unwanted Companion
I wait eagerly
for absolute darkness
to lose my shadow
it troubles me to
feel its presence
grow, then diminish,
but not disappear
I grow weary of its company
walking close
beside me, before me,
behind me
an appendage that
speaks its own
language
formidable in
eloquence,
eerily chained to
my heels.

Shadows

Shadows
long shadows
the afternoon s t r e t c h e s us
on the sidewalks
holding hands
but when dusk falls
and we vanish
into a shadowless world
what will remain of us?

Choreographer
July 26, 2022 by Neetu Malik in category Poet's Day by Neetu Malik tagged as dancing, Neetu, shadows, shapes
Choreographer
She plays with shadows
twirling them with her fingers
making shapes she doesn’t
understand though
they are
but shadows, they dance–
she is too rapt in
their movements to realize
the choreography is in
her hands.
