War by Neetu

War

I try
to find words for war

how it wrecks, how it feels
but
there is no language I find
to reach

that space inside me
to define the terror
give utterance
to grief

why war when
there is no winning

when there is only loss
and losing

no matter which side
you're on

  • Unwanted Companion by Neetu

    I wait eagerly
    for absolute darkness
    to lose my shadow

    I drop pebbles slowly
    watch them fall
    in a shallow stream

    she reaches out
    touches fog

  • In the Flickering by Neetu

    Walk me through
    your cave

    show me the petroglyphs
    the stories
you have laboriously pecked on the walls
    with your hammer stone,
carved in the light of a lantern
    where shadows cast gloom.

  • Traveler by Neetu

    I am but dust
    a grain of sand
    blowing whichever way
    the wind blows
    in the universe
