a woman making a snow angel

Snow Angel

I shaped you in the snow
the last time it descended
from the misty sky above

gentle flakes fluttered
settled thickly upon barren earth—
forming soft cloud comfort

I carved a dream
with my happy soul, smiling,
my eyes searched the universe

there were no stars that night–
just a crystalline radiance, in which
I molded the dream.

  • Aliens by Neetu

    be happy
    she says, her soft arms
    hold me as I lean
    into them
    seeking reassurance
    a promise to protect

  • A Simple Truth by Neetu

    be happy
    she says, her soft arms
    hold me as I lean
    into them
    seeking reassurance
    a promise to protect

  • Old Country Welcome by Neetu

    The sign is posted
    on the porch
    I’ve walked many times
    this way before
    through seasons warm and cold
but no one appears at the door.

  • It’s up to YOU, America by Neetu

    here we stand
    not one Nation under God

    fragmented under
    a heaving flag
    weighted down
    by broken parts

    shredded by knives
    with rusted edges
    blunted, yet sharp
    in grievances

  • Wireless Connections by Neetu

    She is
    content to be
    where she is
    between earth and sky
sipping coffee at a black table
    in a white-walled cafe
    reading a book
but not quite in the pages
